The Woman behind Smart Women Supplements
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nadia Alterio and I am a firm advocate in the promotion of women's health and fitness. I am an athlete, a former Miss British Columbia, business owner, networker, entrepreneur, web administrator and I have personally competed and placed in several fitness and bodybuilding shows.
I am originally from Canada, but my work has taken me from Vancouver, to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and to numerous other cities where the demand for the Know How Nutrition Book and line of essential supplements is creating a stir. I have a degree in Psychology and have spent years counselling women about what they must do to ensure an optimal state of physical health.

Nadia Interviewed
What can you tell us about your body and the shape it's in that
you think most people do not realize.
NADIA: Well, there was a time in my life when I weighed over 160
lbs. This was when I was only 13 years old. Even though my parents
saw to it that both myself and my sister were fed only the healthiest
food choices while growing up, I never really took quantity or food
groups into consideration. I was young and nutrition wasn't a big
concern for me at this time. It wasn't until later when I started
high school, soccer and dance classes that I realized I needed to
make some changes in my eating. Today, I've learned my body's nutritional needs and requirements and I maintain a lean and healthy physique.
Per modeling, fitness or bodybuilding. What is the best and the
worst experience you have ever had in this field? Maybe the experience
was with another person or happened to a friend.
NADIA: I think everyone in this industry experiences rejection in some form or another at
some point. However, on a positive note, I feel that if you can turn
a bad experience into a 'learning' experience and move on, then good things
are bound to come your way. When I used to model evening wear, compete in female bodybuilding competitions
and beauty pageants, I felt they were all great experiences. Preparing for such events included doing photo shoots, pubic speaking, fashion modeling
and talent performances. It certainly was a lot of work, but worth it in the end. I made many new friends and was able to gain
experience in that arena of the entertainment industry. I also learned
that performing in front of large crowds comes quite
naturally to me and something that I enjoy.

You have yet to say what the worst experience was. Is there a down
side to it all?
NADIA: I guess the worst thing was learning how some people can behave
behind the scenes. People with values and morals seem to be of the minority these days.
What different fad diets have you have tried. Why did they
fail?
NADIA: I've never tried any 'fad' diets or those of the sort. I've always made a point of trying to figure out my body's nutritional
needs and in doing so, I discovered how important it is for women to supplement with an essential oil blend is. I know that since I began supplementing with Lemmon's Perfected Oil Blend, both my physical and mental state of health has improved tremendously. I'm also relieved that I no longer have to worry about being lactose intolerant because separating my food groups has eliminated that problem entirely for me. I love being able to drink milk, put real cream in my coffee, and eat cheese or dairy now without worrying about getting an upset stomach.
What different exercise routines have you tried?
Split routines, full body workouts, and what really showed the best
results? What was your last session like?
NADIA: I used to work out often, but since I began the Know How, I discovered that it's not necessary to train as frequently as
I used to. I actually look and feel a lot healthier working out less often.
The first training session I did was quite simple and was
nothing more than 3 different basic exercises. It worked my entire
body and even though these exercises were simple to perform, they were still intense. Technique is the key and I highly
recommend these same basic exercises for ALL
women who want to see some real changes in their physiques.
What was the last fancy meal you ate?
NADIA: The last fancy meal I ate was at this wonderful steakhouse in Port Coquitlam, Vancouver. My sister, her fiance and I all treated ourselves to some very fine dining.
What supplement lines do you use or cycle and when? What supplement should
never be neglected by anyone?
NADIA: Like many, I also made the maistake at one time of taking too many different supplements. I used to think that fat burners, multi vitamins and many
different unhealthy brands of protein powders was the way to go. But then when I changed my eating, I again discovered that I really only needed to take 3 essential supplements on a regular basis for complete nourishment;
essential fats, vitamins and minerals. All 3 should never be neglected from the diet by anyone.
What got you started in weight training? When did you first pay
attention to diet?
NADIA: I was always athletic. I danced for some time, played soccer, mountain biked, swam,
skated, and participated in other sports while growing up. The more active I became, the more I started to pay attention to my eating.
What is your crowning achievement with regards to your competing and life in general? Who cheered you along all the
while and who said you couldn't that you proved wrong?
NADIA: I am surrounded by friends and family who are each very supportive in their own way. However, without the support, love and encouragement from my sister and mother, I probably wouldn't have done as well as I did. One of my greatest moments in life would have to be graduating from University with my degree and having my dad there at the ceremonies to cheer me on. With regards to my competing, I would have to say that placing in my first
bodybuilding competition and then placing again at the
Provincials was quite an accomplishment because it all happened within a short time period. This also qualified me to compete in the Nationals.
That is like winning your City show, moving on to the State show
and competing in the National level shows here in America, in case
you folks are confused by what Provincials are. It's like a State,
but in Canada.
What is your full name, birthdate and place, actual job title and how
long have you been doing it? What was your first and last job working
for someone else?
NADIA: My full name is Nadia Amanda Alterio. My birthday is December
22 and I am originally from a small town called Kamloops in British
Columbia, Canada. The very first job I ever had was in the Law Courts
back home. It was great and allowed me to become familiar with the
field of law, a field that I thought was what I wanted to pursue
at one point. However, shortly after entering University, I discovered
the field of Psychology and decided that it was more
my area of pursuit. The last job I had where I worked for someone else was managing a gym in my hometown. I worked regularly, juggled school full time, trained
and worked online as well. I have pretty much been my own boss since then.
What do you want to suggest to your female readers about fitness and what makes this advice unique?
NADIA: Educate yourself not only about proper training, but also about proper nutrition because essentially, the two go hand in hand and you can not succeed in any sport without either of the two. It is that fundamental to success. Further, if you are going to compete, seek out the best professional training and nutrition advice that you can get. That means look into as many sources as possible.
Describe your current eating
plan and what you would change if you saw an inch creep up on your
waistline?
NADIA: I've been seperating my foods and following the Know How nutrition plan for 5 years now and I couldn't be happier with the results. I enjoy being able to eat literally everything and not putting on weight.
Do you have any hobbies?
NADIA: To be completely honest, at this point in my life, I really
don't have much time for hobbies although I have always enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, meeting new people and learning about new cultures.
What Organizations would benefit from your
speaking on their behalf and why?
NADIA: I'm sure I would be able to
make an impact with any charitable organization. Particularly, any organization that promotes Women's Issues and/or Women's Health. Encouraging, motivating, and educating is something I just enjoy doing.
What, if any, awards or life acheivements would you be honored to receive?
NADIA: An award that addressed either commitment, perseverance, or intelligence.
What exactly is your educational background?
NADIA: I have a degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and am certified as a weight instructor and
a nutritional consultant.
So few women have succeeded on a body alone and a pretty intelligent girl is rare these days, but you seem to be unique. This is very admirable. With regards to women and the fitness industry, what makes you cringe?
NADIA: The fact that this industry is
made up of so few genuine people. As female athletes, I think more women should be aware of how they portray themselves to the media these days. The message they choose to promote should be positive, especially when there are so many young girls out there in need of direction.
You mean be a role model?
NADIA: Exactly. As for
something that makes me smile, I'd have to say knowing that I have always been
able to acheive the goals that I have set for myself. I was never one for giving up on anything or anybody, even when it seems hopeless. The people that are dear to me in my life also serves as a reminder that I am a very fortunate young lady.
We definitely paint the final picture of our own goals in life and
reap what we sow. So, of all the highs and lows, what is your desired
final destination?
NADIA: I am capable of fulfilling anything I set out to accomplish in life. It doesn't
matter if it's 2 or 10 years from now. If there's one thing I've
learned over the past few years, it is that I am responsible
for my own success and happiness. There's nothing easy about being
a young lady in today's world, but if you believe in yourself, there's
no telling where life will take you.
Is there anything you'd like to address that we haven't touched upon?
NADIA: Yes, I would like to thank all my site visitors who believe in me and who support me.
